Shakeem McNeil, 31, pleaded guilty today to fatally shooting his neighbor, Carl Brown on Millet Street in Dorchester after Brown asked him to be careful with the coals from a barbecue fire he was tending and to try to keep smoke from the flames from reaching a neighbor with asthma, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. On Southern Avenue at Millet Street, around 11 a.m., Jay T. Kenney reports. The victim was found in the basement of a house a couple blocks away on Mallard Avenue.
WBZ reports that Boston and Brockton Police arrested Shakeen McNeill, 28, of Brockton, early this morning at a Brockton Super 8 motel for last night's murder on Millet Street in Dorchester.

UPDATE: Victim identified as Carl Brown, 43. Suspect arrested in Brockton.
Jeff Durham reports a man was shot at 95 Milllet St., between Wheatland Avenue and Park Street, around 8:45 p.m. He reports hearing five shots. Boston Police report the victim died at a local hospital.
A person was stabbed five times in the stomach and once in the chest at 28 Millet St. shortly before 3 a.m., Boston EMS Incidents and Mark Parkinson report. The homicide unit was brought in due to the severity of the person's injuries.
