Citizen complaint of the day: Broken heart in East Boston
By adamg on Tue, 09/10/2013 - 6:21pm
An alert citizen reports the Pulse of the City heart installation outside the East Boston Health Center in Maverick Square is already broken, only four days after it was installed.
The heart, which emitted music based on the pulse of whoever held its handles, was a twin to the heart stolen from Christopher Columbus Park in the North End.

This is why we can't have
This is why we can't have anything nice. Sheesh.
Errant Heart
Call the police - place it under cardiac arrest!

Cool Idea & Just About What Would Be Expected
Did anybody seriously think something so interesting on a city street would go unstolen or unvandalized for more than a couple of weeks?

Exactly
As well intended as these items might be, they clearly are an obvious target for theft and vandalism. No one should be surprised by this.
Pianos?
Has anyone vandalized them yet?
They aren't out yet
And when they are, they will be in public, but not isolated locations for a brief time only.
not a "brief time" for the street pianos
They will be out continuously from 9/27 to 10/14 according to http://www.streetpianos.com/ . I've been asked (along with other folks) to keep an eye on the Davis Square one when possible (e.g. covering it with a tarp when rain is likely)
The one at Christopher Columbus Park
was missing this morning as well. The solar thing is still there, but the heart looks like it was ripped out.
Yep
Yes, that one was gone by Saturday, lasting less than 24 hours in place. That's why Adam referred to "the heart stolen from Christopher Columbus Park in the North End" in his story.
