It sounds like the contest required her to do this, she basically won a grant for the school (not that it's not still awesome!)

They fulfilled her wish (books for her kids), then gave her the cash prize. She could have done whatever she wanted with it (which makes it incredibly awesome).

The money will be used to buy 15 front office administrators comfy chairs and cater professional development luncheons. The $10 left over will be used to buy one lucky classroom of children a pizza.

Are you speaking generally from your experience as a student at school, or as a student at this school?

If we don't have consultants, we'll never know how to change the focus of the SSC from year to year to proactively engage curriculum strata.

Your enthusiasm and joy of a young woman doing something wonderful is deafening. Sorry you cannot see the good in the simple act.

read my lips: pfffffttt!

I work at the school and know Nikki. She wasn't required to give it to the school, it's what she chose to do.

This isn't your typical BPS school, they don't spend money on themselves, discussions have already been going on as to were the money might go and a new computer lab and fixing the existing greenhouse are the top choices at the moment.

Don't bring negativity into an awesome gesture from an amazing teacher.

I wish someone with plenty of cash to spare would give that teacher $150,000 to keep for herself!

If only every poor kid had a navy polo and practiced "spirit fingers". She gave away 2+ years salary to underwrite an employer who will let her go if she fails to magically make each 3rd grade smarter than the last. That school is a weird cult, I've toured their South Boston school twice, not what it looks like from that puff article. Here's their way to raise test scores - kick out the SPED, behavior and family crisis kids and drill baby drill. The weirdest thing I saw at that school is when they showed us a group of 7th grade boys coming up from gym, not a word from any of them as they climbed the stairs. Anybody who knows teens knows that is not normal.

She seems like a true believer, god love her, but she's giving money to the school not the kids.
