Pre-dawn raids across city aimed at large Dorchester gang
The US Attorney's office reports the arrest of 41 people overnight in a crackdown on the Columbia Point Dawgs, a gang named for the housing project that was torn down in the 1980s to make way for Harbor Point. Seven more people are being sought.
Court documents allege that the CPD established its dominance in the Boston gang drug distribution business through a pattern of violence and intimidation, and that members of CPD have been responsible for numerous shootings of rival gang members over the years. In particular, in the past year and a half, the CPD has been engaged in a violent gang war with the Greenwood Street Posse, and other gangs aligned with Greenwood, which has resulted in numerous shootings. Law enforcement officers seized 14 firearms during the course of the investigation. On several occasions, guns were seized after investigators heard through court-authorized cellphone wiretaps that an individual was about to engage in a shooting. ...
The investigation has resulted in the seizure of, among other things: 31 firearms; multiple boxes of ammunition; heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, oxycodone pills, and marijuana, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia; 15 vehicles, including a Maserati, a Mercedes Benz, and an Audi; and $1.5 million in cash.

Kickass!
That is all.
A few murders late
Yeah, Kick as.s drug transactions and I bet murders too late.
This so-called gang didn't just spring up over night. The city has to take swift action now to downplay the lack of control over the city.
Columbia Point / Harbor Point
Some of the Columbia Point buildings were torn down, but I think other parts were remodeled into the current Harbor Point.
And they say there's no "good" news"
This is all good. The war on drugs is a waste of time, but these guys are clearly bringing a whole lotta bad to the city and everyone is better off with them behind bars.
What the war dragged in
Indeed, the war on drugs is a waste of time, but the war on drugs is also what made this gang a profitable organization. There is a very strong connection between the two. Would this gang even exist without the war on drugs? What other gang-level enterprise is going to generate enough cash for flashy cars and an armory of weapons?
Now I know
So this is why I was awakened at 5:00 this morning by a helicopter circling my house.

Must be nice. Meanwhile, several friends with STEM PhD's drive cars that barely pass inspections and windows that only roll down.
Crime doesn't pay
Bart: Sorry, Fat Tony. I used to think your gang was cool. But now I learned that crime doesn't pay.
Tony: Yeah, you're right. [leaves in his expensive limo, complete with pretty woman]
To be fair
If your STEM PhD friends make an error in a paper they submitted for review, the journal's editors don't come and confiscate their cars :)
If you enter the review
If you enter the review process, you enter The Thunderdome. You can't drive cars in there.
