Anybody need some artisanal Jersey barriers?

The Herald reports Massport is stuck with some 9,400 specially designed concrete barriers for the IndyCar that Wasn't, sitting on land that was supposed to be for maritime uses, but no longer is, thanks to the thousands upon thousands of these things that the local IndyCar promoters are no longer paying to store there.

Use them to create buffered bike lanes? Artificial reef somewhere in the harbor?

I'll get a group together to lift them onto super-overbuilt bike trailers to be pulled by a team of cyclists and lifted into place by a multitude. That will stop the scofflaws! (BWAHAHAHAHAH!)

Heck, combine it all with the naked bike ride - it will be totally classical! Sweaty and naked people, wrestling en masse with large objects. Epic!

This is a goddamn lot of jersey barriers!

Maybe MassDOT could use them for something?

bike lane dividers

9400 concrete jersey barriers I say bury them in the Boston harbor
I

One every day until they pay back everyone that bought a ticket.

He promoted this against the wishes of residents, until it became clear it wasnt going to happen. Then he threw the promoters under the bus and ran away from any responsibility.

Build a monument to Marty's towering incompetence on City Hall Plaza!

(As a bonus when it crashes through to the tracks below it can also serve as a monument to the failed maintenance of the T)

Doesn't City Hall Plaza have enough concrete already?

Love the title of this post. Cracked me up :-) thanks!

Please.

Brooklyn?

He hasn't gotten any sleep.

I see it.

I think anon is referring to Brooklyn's prolific "artisanal" movement, i.e. Mast Bros, Etsy headquarters, etc

Artisinal as a word lost what little meaning it had left when Mickey D's starting calling one of their chicken sandwiches "artisinal".

Keep on speaking truth to power.

Toss them in the harbor.

what a great idea. That road is plain scary in most places. Narrow/w curves. Hpw did people drive huge American boat-cars on that road in the 60s-70s? Was it even there then?

to reinforce the Great Wall of Allston.

Could these be used by beach front properties as a barrier to prevent erosion from the ocean?

They could use them for the Republican National Convention this summer which will become a festival of fools or a full blown riot.

It's 2000 barriers that are in storage -9400 was what was needed if I understood the Herald article right. That's still a massive waste or concrete.

Bike lanes on Mass Ave and Comm Ave. Protected sidewalk for Beacon St.

Mass. Ave. in Cambridge needs them desperately! It's a shit-show on the other side of the river.

Put them on Green Line intersections to discourage drivers cutting off the trolleys.
