Police: Man who left suspicious Koran outside state office building was wanted for attacking cop in DC
Boston Police report a man ordered out of a Downtown Crossing jewelry store this morning sparked a bomb-squad visit to the McCormack Building, then was arrested at a downtown shelter on a warrant charging him with attacking a cop at Reagan National Airport.
Police report officers were called to a jewelry store at 335 Washington St. around 11:25 a.m. where Aziz Rehman Osmani, 22, allegedly refused got into a shouting match with store workers when he wouldn't return some jewelry they had given him to inspect a short time earlier.
About five minutes later, a worker at the McCormack Building on Ashburton Place called 911 to report a man, in apparent Pakistani garb, had left an object outside the building's entrance. State and Boston Police shut Ashburton Place until the bomb squad arrived.
State Police report:
Responding troopers located a book, determined to be a copy of the Koran, left unattended outside the main front entrance. Initial reports that wires were protruding from the book proved to be false.
Boston Police say that around 2:30 p.m., St. Vincent House, 33 Boylston St. called to report a man causing a disturbance. Police say they detained Osmani and learned he was wanted on a warrant from Washington DC for "threats made at a ticket counter and, ensuing, assault and battery on a police officer at Reagan National Airport."
He was arrested on a charge of being a fugitive from justice and will be a guest of the commonwealth until he is extradited.
Innocent, etc.

Quick quiz
Where does the name 'Pakistan' come from?
A:
It's an acronym, or possibly portmanteau, of the names of the five northern regions of the British Raj: _P_unjab, _A_fghania, _K_ashmir, _S_indh, and Baluch_istan_. Coined by activists who were anti-colonial in the 1930s.
