Instead of a Colossus, we could build a Venus

Vasily Klyukin is a Russian financier who now likes to dabble in speculative architecture - designing unusual skyscrapers for world-class cities, which apparently include Boston, based on his proposal for a building called Venus right on the waterfront.

Is this guy high or something?
That's hideous.
Adorable!
Adorable!
Found the Trump Fan
That's beyond tacky.
I Disagree With That Assessment Most Strongly!
It's even worse than the Arthur Fiedler head!
Sea Level Rise
There would be waves lapping at her robes in a very short time! Probably the first storm after completion.
These things are cool to think about, and draw. I like that someone is thinking about them and creating renderings. I don't think that's a buildable area, though, or a very buildable building.
BRA will green light this
BRA will green light this project, Russian developers are billionaires , billionaires are philanthropist , money talks in the city of Boston!!
Especially ...
If he signs up Elkus Manfredi as the local architect on the project.
contrapasso
She was born in seafoam; to seafoam, she'll return.
Tacky
The Las Vegasification of Boston.
WOOF!
I'm all for creative architecture, but that thing is hideous.
It looks like a giant aunt
It looks like a giant aunt Jamama syrup bottle
Mrs Butterworth
with bad posture.
Figurehead
I think a building shaped like a traditional figurehead would make a lot more sense in this location.
It could even be the new city hall - a watery tart handing out swords and all that.

OK, I'll bite
What, exactly, made a light bulb go on over your head and make you go "AHA! This computer rendering of a stupid building on the waterfront that will never actually get built reminds me of open-source office suites!"

Open meeting
Don't you have meeting notes to complain about?
From time to time an open thread...
From time to time there could be an open thread for other things, on/off topic, general interest, etc.
With a version of a Safe Space Policy

You can start threads
It is permissible to do so. Adam won't always kick them to the front page, but you can DIY here.
?
?
I wonder
how much the boob space would go for?
Enough...
...to bust most budgets, I'd imagine
New BRA offices
Would be perfect there.
Better for Mayor Walsh
A boob in a boob...boobception!
you guys
are really milking this topic.
NSFW?
Would it be OK to work inside of a building that is manifestly NSFW?
'vaguely female shaped' is NSFW?!
You need to find a somewhere less repressed to work, methinks.
Would have to be located on
Would have to be located on the 69th floor.
Wrong goddess for Boston
Obviously, our tutelary is Athena. She's a great aspirational match for our city:
From Wikipedia:
"...goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, mathematics, ...strength, war strategy, the arts, crafts, and skill in ancient Greek religion and mythology.
...Athena is known for her calm temperament, as she moves slowly to anger. She is noted to have only fought for just reasons, and would not fight without a purpose."
Plus, most statues of her have arms ;P

If it was a local developer,
If it was a local developer, he'd try to put in a fat lady shaped building in order to cram as much office space and condos as possible.
you mean another
pregnant building
It looks like they just
It looks like they just crudely photoshopped it onto the end of Rowes Wharf, (which isn't a particularly practical location but whatever) but if they put it at the site of the Harbor Garage that would be an amusing conclusion to the conflict between Chiofaro and the BRA.
When I saw this all I could
When I saw this all I could think of was the giant statue in the middle of the city in Batman and Robin, the movie from the 90's.
What if the building was
What if the building was modeled after Tom Brady instead?
then the construction company
would need to cheat at all the building codes and get away with it. Then everyone would declare it the best building in Boston. Evah.
Next to the penile...
ah, Chiofaro columnar building of International Place, it offers some, ah conceptual, symmetry. Would the proximity of the structures result in architectural progeny?
I like it a lot
I say build it ASAP!
The New Trump Power Center?
