Jumpin' Jehosaphat: BPD officers leap from one rooftop to another in pursuit of North End prowler
Boston Police report some nimble officers nabbed a New Yorker who kept trying to break into apartments in the North End via skylights early Sunday - after a chase in which the officers themselves jumped from one rooftop to another.
Police say that around 12:55 a.m., a Thacher Street resident called 911 to report what sounded like somebody trying to get into his apartment via his skylight:
According to the tenant, the suspect or suspects attempted to break into two separate apartments before running away from the scene. A short time later, officers received a third call for a person trying to break into an apartment just around the corner on North Margin Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the tenant who stated that he heard someone on his roof trying to break into his home. After an unsuccessful attempt to gain entry, the victim believes the suspect may have jumped onto the roof of the apartment building adjacent to his. In hot pursuit, officers jumped onto the roof of the building next door and entered the premises from above. Once inside the building, officers were met by a fourth victim who stated that the suspect was inside his apartment. According to the victim, he heard a loud noise on his roof and when he threw open his door to see what was the matter, the suspect walked into his apartment.
The leaping officers raced into the apartment, where they arrested Damian Tejada, 24, of New York, police say. He was charged with two counts of breaking and entering a residence in the nighttime and two counts of attempted breaking and entering a resident in the nighttime.
Innocent, etc.

"Up The Ladder to the Roof" is the fake Supremes. Diana Ross was gone by then.
Great job by the police
The body-cam footage of this heroic chase will be great to watch and a feather in the cap of a profession that needs more positive PR.

But, Michael
We've delayed the start of the bodycam footage pilot program! We won't be able to see this officer's "above and beyond"!
