Riverside trolley derails; for riders, no happy trails

The Herald reports on - and posts photos of - a trolley that had one or two wheels decide they didn't really like the track they were on near Reservoir around 7:30 a.m. None of the passengers on board was injured, and service has since resumed.

They were bussing from Reservoir to Beaconsfield... seems kind of pointless to have shuttle bussing for only 2 stops

Bit of a long, indirect walk between the two if they didn't provide buses

Well, it's a short walk to Dean Road from Beaconsfield. You could also just use the C line the whole way to avoid delays for the most part. When I said shuttle busing was pointless from Beaconsfield to Reservoir, I meant they should have done it from Fenway (which they did at first) instead of making passengers get off, take a bus one stop, then get back on.

How would making the slow and crowded bus segment longer help anyone?

Usually I'm annoyed because bus shuttles are too long (like a problem at Park Street, so they shuttle Broadway to Kendall). The shorter the better.

Really? If there weren't busing, what would you want the passengers to do? Sit on the broken trolley for hours or walk a long distance? Two stops on the Riverside line is not a short distance, especially for anyone with mobility issues.

Only 1 stop.

Good thing they got the C branch

Nine of the employees are putting on their game faces, the other one leaning up against the wall looks bored and could care less whether the trolley gets back on track
