Transit Police report arresting the 29-year-old driver of a Toyota they say turned onto the inbound Green Line tracks at Brigham Circle around 3 a.m. and then didn't get very far and remained on scene so that officers could determine enough signs of intoxication to warrant an OUI arrest.
This was a week after another Toyota driver allegedly did the same basic thing on the Green Line at Coolidge Corner.
An Amesbury woman who suffered a fractured skull and pelvis and had to have part of her leg amputated due after falling under a Green Line trolley in 2023 that had begun pulling out of BU Central last week sued the MBTA for negligence, saying the operators of the two-car train failed to check to make sure the outside of the train was clear before starting to leave the stop. Transit Police report arresting a 27-year-old woman they say drove her Camry inbound on the Green Line tracks at Coolidge Corner around 2:30 a.m., then tried to book it down the tracks at "a high rate of speed," only she didn't get very far before the car went off the rails and officers were able to book her on a charge of OUI.
The MBTA reports the day started with a switch problem near Wellington on the Orange Line and a dead trolley at Chestnut Hill on the Green Line. Both problems since fixed.

A developer that proposed an apartment building on 142-146 St. Mary's Street, on the Boston side of the border with Brookline last year has submitted new plans that call for a slightly smaller building, but one with a pedestrian path running from the Fenway stop on the Green Line on one side of the building to Medfield Street on the other. The MBTA says it will assemble a mock-up of its proposed new Type 10 Green Line trolleys - the ones 40 feet longer than current trolleys - for visits by prospective riders at City Hall Plaza next Tuesday and Wednesday. Read more.
The driver of an outbound trolley that derailed just past Lechmere at the start of the afternoon rush hour on Oct. 1, sending seven passengers to the hospital with minor injuries, barreled through the equivalent of a red light at more than three times the speed limit and derailed on a switch that was still shifting into place to get the train to a new track, the National Transportation Safety Board says. Michael Burstein notes the irony in MBTA ads showing a person in a wheelchair during National Disability Employment Awareness Month at Boylston station, which is inaccessible to people who actually use wheelchairs.
The MBTA says it's once again running trolleys north of North Station, even as the National Transportation Safety Board, the Federal Transit Administration and the state Department of Public Utilities continue to investigate how the front wheels of one trolley came off the tracks Tuesday afternoon, sending six passengers to the hospital. The Cambridge Fire Department reports several people suffered non-life-threatening injuries when a trolley came off the tracks near 10 Morgan Ave.
Clauclauclaudia caught both a bus and a trolley in flagrante delicto at Huntington Avenue and Fenwood Road shortly after 8 p.m.
"I guess expect E line delays inbound," she summarizes. Sure, enough, the T is reporting 15-minute delays on the E Line, suggests the more flexible 39 as an alternative.
The tracks are getting better and better, but, oops, something blew out all the power on the Red, Orange, Green and Blue lines around 1:30 p.m. The MBTA reported about 15 minutes later that Johnny plugged the power cord back in, except, oops, briefly not on the Orange Line between Stony Brook and Forest Hills.

The MBTA reports the recent shutdown of the B Line let workers eliminate all of the eight slow zones on that Green Line branch. Read more.
The MBTA is reminding Green Line riders that the B Line will be shut between Boston College and Babcock Street between Aug. 2 and 11 for some of those accelerated track repair sessions.
Bustitution, of course, except the buses won't stop at Allston Street, Griggs Street or Packards Corner for accessibility reasons.
That day started poorly on the Green Line, with the MBTA announcing delays due to "signal problems" at Government Center at 5:38 a.m. The T declared that issue fixed at 6:12 a.m., but then, at 7:35 a.m., upgraded (or is that downgraded?) the Government Center issue to "a track problem" severe enough to halt B and C service at Park Street.
