West Roxbury street to be shut for a day to get new train bridge ready

MassDOT reports Lagrange Street will be shut just north of Centre Street on Sunday, Oct. 2 to let workers install parts of a new Needham Line bridge over Lagrange.
The bridge is part of an overall project that will see the clearance under the bridge increased by lowering the roadway - reducing the current odds of delivery trucks getting wedged under the bridge.
Lagrange is scheduled to be shut between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Wide bridge
Anyone know (historically) why this is a double-wide bridge? Doesn't look like the road used to be twice as wide...
Possibly Due to Bussey St
This rail line is the former main line that ran from Hyde Park, through Dedham, then West Roxbury into Roslindale. It is this rail line that had the infamous Bussey Street Rail Disaster (Google it).
After the Bussey St bridge collapsed killing dozens, all bridges nationwide went under new rules for support. Many bridges were trussed up or replaced as a result of new standards to assure no further accidents of that nature happened again.
At one point in time that was a 2-track rail bed but soon into the 1900s as rail traffic was reduced, and the NEC (then New York and Providence RR) got more usage, it was reduced to one track. Modern clearance standards will likely keep it at one track as well.
