Columbia Point Dawg gets two years on drug charge

A federal judge yesterday sentenced Israel Delacruz, 39, to two years in prison for his role in the Columbia Point Dawgs, a gang that started in the old Columbia Point Housing project and grew to include "crews" down the East Coast before 48 alleged members were indicted in 2015.

Delacruz, a Roxbury resident, had pleaded guilty to cocaine distribution in April. He was the 45th gang member to plead guilty, the US Attorney's office reports. Delacruz

Delacruz was arrested at the South Bay Mall on Oct. 14, 2014 after BPD drug detectives followed him in his Mercedes from the Harbor Point home of another alleged gang member, where they suspected he had just picked up a shipment of cocaine. A pat search in front of the Best Bay revealed a suspicious object below his tailbone - which on a strip search in a holding cell turned out to be a bag of cocaine protruding from between his butt cheeks, according to court documents.
