On Thursday, a woman stood outside the Park Street subway station, feeding pigeons - much like another woman did more than 100 years ago:

Anyone know what was going on behind the fences on the left in the older photo? Or, for that matter, on the left in the newer photo?

Wow. Even the pigeons looked healthier and happier back then. And regarding the fences, was livestock still in the Common at that time?
