Pair of loons spotted off Castle Island

SO stoked to see a pair of loons at the Sugar Bowl in Southie this morning.

Her sighting comes a couple weeks after somebody spotted a loon at Jamaica Pond.

but there have been loons around Southie for a long time. Growing up you could hear their distinctive vocals. Some confuse them with commerants.

Excellent! Birding from Castle Island is often fantastic: snowy owls, loons, eiders, buffleheads, mergansers, brants, and the list goes on.
