Boston Police report arresting just one person early this morning for allegedly getting out of hand after the Sox won the series.
Police report Shawn Lindsay, 22, with only a home state of Connecticut given, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. by officers who say they watched him climb a light pole on Boston Common, near Boylston and Tremont streets, and punch the light until the lens smashed.
Officers instructed the male to climb back down the light pole, to which he complied. The male was subsequently placed under arrest.
Lindsay is scheduled for arraignment in Boston Municipal Court today on a charge of malicious destruction of property, police say.
Innocent, etc.

Being forced to live in Connecticut
Is worse than most punishments the courts around here hand out.
Connecticut is cut in half
When you look at maps which try to quantify that sort of thing with things like Facebook, Connecticut is more or less neatly cut in two, with the southwest side leaning towards the Yankees and the somewhat larger but less dense northeast side leaning towards the Red Sox. (Presumably the Mets have some fans too, but not enough to show up on these kinds of maps.) Although obviously that map exaggerates the sharpness of the boundary.
That kind of division shows up in a lot of things, really. The other New England states tend to stick together on a lot of demographic things, but as you go from New London to Greenwich you gradually get pulled into the gravitational pull of New York.
Once you're within the NYC commuting zone,
and that's SW Connecticut all the way up to a bit beyond New Haven, the Evil Empire has you.
Or the Game 6 guys, but with their record this year they were never a threat.

Bizarre Human Behavior
How does having a favorite sports team win the World Series translate into climbing up a light pole and smashing it? Or even climbing up a light pole at all? I just don't get it. And it's not just this one guy. You KNOW other people do things like this as well.
For many, celebration means doing drugs or alcohol...
...totally irrational behavior results.
It's going slower than I
It's going slower than I thought, but my thought that all the championships has made our riots calmer is holding up. 2004 did all kinds of damage, 2007 had damage but less, 2013 had the one guy coming out to see his car - and only his car - flipped of all cars (which I have to say I find it a bit hilarious to imagine).
And now only one guy got a arrested for damaging a street lamp.
In more seriousness, I'm sure a few more people did illegal enough stuff to merit arrest, but I think it is holding up that we are getting better (as fans and how police are also experienced too, but it is more amusing to think about how fans are getting less rowdy because of so many championships)
IIRC, the patriots
IIRC, the patriots celebrations in 2002 and 2004 were generally free of destruction. the ALCS loss in 2003 and WS win in 2004 turned the tide though.
the night the pats won that first superbowl in 2002 was one of the most fun nights of my life. i remember a mbta police car got caught in the flashmob in kenmore and the cop just shut off his engine and locked the doors.
