Proof that Forest Hills is the end of the line

This woman moved around the upper busway at Forest Hills this afternoon, proclaiming the end was no longer nigh, it was here. She spent some time on the sidewalk and some time in the busway itself, proclaiming a warning or promise to people who mostly tuned her out. At one point, she stood at the edge of the 36/37 berth and continued to give witness even after both buses left and the berth was completely empty.

I must've missed you on the busway today, because you obviously spent a lot more time than I did observing this woman and know way more about her and how she's fundamentally different from, oh, Screaming Jesus Guy or even just the Jehovah's Witnesses that are at the station every morning.

He's been kicked off the Irish Famine Memorial more times than I can count. Dude has an easel and a bunch of poster boards with diagrams and stuff to prove whatever he's going on about.

the Screaming Jesus Guy, seems not to be screaming anymore (saw him last week). Or perhaps he was having an off day.

People that spread the work of Jesus are automatically annoying. And believing in sky fairies and a literal heaven and hell is, by definition, delusional behavior.

it can be said that one's delusion is another person's reality.
Not spreading the work of Jesus
At best one could accurately say they are spreading the work of Paul. But the truth is that they proselytizing and evangelizing Christians believe that they are right and everyone else is wrong.
Perhaps the clearest example are Mormom's baptizing everyone else via proxy, including Jews.
The desire to proselytize and spread the faith can only be discussed in both its historical and current incarnation. During the centuries that European kingdoms colonized the rest of the globe Christianizing the heathen was part and parcel of colonization. Converting the heathen was far less about saving souls and far more about enslaving people.
Today, in Africa, it's about increasing the international spread of religious organizations. They are not looking to enslave. But saving souls is just means to the ends of homogenizing the world.
The spread of Christianity has also included genocide as it supported the destruction of Native American cultures. Life any human institution spreading something is as much about power.
Today, when we see folks on subway platforms I see people who are like most people. They need to feel needed. This is how they feel needed. I like the individuals with the extreme signs. They are entertaining. I always enjoyed seeing the fellow with the placard of souls forced into Hell. They add a spicy flavor to urban living.
JH's however annoy me. They look so sweet and humble. What I see sanctimonious humility. I want to ask them why they are using that time and energy to sit with the sick, the troubled, the poor.
Want to do Jesus' work? Drop the fantasy about sharing good news so that more people can know make the right decision when Jesus returns, all human institutions fail, etc. and try making the world, in the present, a little bit better.
Classic case of pretending to something by focusing on the future while ignoring the present.

Riding the orange line when school gets out is a living hell.
Her in the busway = not a problem
Now regulars on the Orange Line can correct me if I am wrong, but she also proclaims on the train en route to Forest Hills. That is too much of a captive audience, so it's a bigger problem. Of course, nowadays we are subjected to clueless people's music played on devices with earphone jacks, so I guess from a noise perspective, you pick your poison.

Yes, I think I've also seen the same woman preaching on the 66 bus.
Part of what makes riding buses and trains gross.
Add folks who treat subways as telephone booths. Telephone booths were great. Providing privacy for a what should remain private. Now we have fools he need to share their business with everyone else. Some of what I've heard is funny. Most just gross.

No one knows the time or the place but we all hold on tightly to that precarious thin thread of life.
Plus, she is exercising her first amendment right of expression.
