Great Day on the Water
I got my kayak in and ended up putting over eight miles under the hull. Great start to the season! I almost regretted wearing a long sleeve shirt as the sun was quite strong.
In my travels I saw several paddlers out, with at least one dog per canoe and a pair of puppers helming a double kayak with a single human paddler. Very happy doggos, all!
Let your boat of life be light
packed with only what you need - a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends, worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog, and a pipe or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing.
To say nothing of the dog!
To say nothing of the dog!
Like the Rat said
"Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing–absolutely nothing–half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."
water?
"a little more than enough to drink."
In that picture I see plenty of water!
Like the poem says, "water, water, everywhere, so let's all have a drink!"
I went to public schools, so I might not have it right exactly though...
Water temps are still cold
I’d be wearing a PFD. You won’t last long if you go for a swim.
PFD required by law
Until April 15, PFDs are required for all boaters. This is a statewide law.
Before May 15th, but only for kayaks and canoes
Not all boaters, is my understanding.
From the MA Boater Safety handbook:
Each person on board a canoe or kayak from September 15 to May 15 must wear a USCG–approved wearable PFD or Type I, II, or III PFD at all times.
Link please?
I was not aware that this changed. It has been April 15 for decades.

Hey SG
As you said
"Perhaps you shouldn't comment on things you don't understand"
Um, hello?
I used teach kayak safety. I have forgotten more than your dumbass has ever known. It has been April 15 on the inland waterways for a couple of decades.
UPDATE: change was in the LAST YEAR to May 15 - in land waterways were April 15 and salt water May 15 previously.
I have been in competitions that have taken place on either side of that May 15 line (since 2005) and they have required that they be handy but not worn as April 15 was the previous rule. In a competition environment, heat load is a hazard.
You're giving out bad info
And could have caused someone to be ticketed. No need to start insulting other posters. Jeez.
Thats
Adorable.

Nah, swirly
I dunno what the saltwater term is, but on freshwater we refer to 'em as lake lice.
Are they still there or did
Are they still there or did somebody eventually tell them to cast off the mooring line ?
They just wanted a quick pic for social media.
No need to actually take the boat out.
Muffy, Chip, and Topher - nice canoe!
Libations for buoyancy.
