Boston to re-open outdoor pools in Charlestown, North End

The mayor's office announced today that the Clougherty Pool in Charlestown and the Mirabella Pool in the North end will re-open to Boston residents tomorrow, and will remain open every day, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., through Labor Day.

The city's 16 indoor pools remain open only to participants in city summer programs.

Of course, this being a pandemic and all, there are new regulations: Pools will only be open for up to 40% of their previous capacity, and would-be lappers need to reserve a time for a 90-minute session the day before.

Also, locker rooms will be shut, so come already dressed to swim - and bring a mask for those times you're not in the water, and make sure to stay at least six feet away from other people not in your household. A maximum of three kids under 12 are allowed per adult.

Neither Charlestown or the North End are known for their shade trees. Somewhere for the kids to cool down during the hottest parts of the day should be welcome.
