Jazz musician Chick Corea, Chelsea native, dies

Corea was 79. He grew up in Chelsea, and one of his first gigs was with Cab Calloway in Boston.

He produced an absolutely incredible body of work. Return to Forever brought many of us rockers into the world of jazz, and opened our ears and minds to things we never would have otherwise learned.

The best Chick Corea groups are his Elektric Band (with Frank Gambale on guitar, John Patitucci on bass, Dave Weckl on drums and Eric Marienthal on sax) and Return to Forever (with Al DiMeola on guitar, Lenny White on drums, Stanley Clarke on bass). They really cooked on those albums...
