Two state reps looking at possible mayoral bids
By adamg on Sun, 01/10/2021 - 2:57pm
The Boston Sun reports that Jon Santiago of the South End, just coming off his first term in the House of Representatives, is looking at maybe running for the mayor's chair that Marty Walsh could soon vacate.
In addition to Santiago, who is also an ER doctor at Boston Medical Center, longer-term state Rep. Aaron Michlewitz of the North End is also considering running.
City Councilors Michelle Wu and Andrea Campbell announced their campaigns last year.

No thanks
I’m waiting for Gross to confirm his run.
Yep. Personally I would love
Yep. Personally I would love to see Commissioner Gross run for Mayor. I like him and I think if he was Mayor he would be the best choice to control the rampant drug problem which is the main cause of making Boston ugly.
He’s great at being a
He’s great at being a Police commissioner much better than previous police commissioners.
The next Mayor will be a Woman , and will be endorsed by Mayor Walsh..
They’re “State Reps” I’d
They’re “State Reps” I’d rather vote for someone who is still young that is already on the council seat, preferably a woman for once with young ideas to move the city forward ..
No thanks indeed
After all of the abuses by the BPD exposed in the past few months, and the Movement for Black Lives demonstrations in the past year, you really want to elect the police commissioner as mayor?
No thanks indeed. Both of the current candidates are committed to not taking money from police unions. That's the direction we need to move.
Citation?
on Michlewitz?

Thanks
We have some progressive candidates but....
Who is the union/cop/firefighter candidate going to be, Marty's heir apparent?
Nobody. Time for a new
Nobody. Time for a new Boston. Same as it ever was. SAME. AS. IT. EVER. WAS!!!
William Gross
And he’ll do better than any of the current candidates.
two good guys
but let them get at least another 8 years of experience before even thinking about Mayor. The next Mayor will be a woman. The only question in my mind is Dot Rat or carpet-bagger.
Dot Rat?
No woman running is from Dorchester, at all.
Janey is from Roxbury.
Campbell is from the South End and Mattapan.
