Covidbreathers bring their unmasked kids, try to invade Copley library children's room

And they videoed themselves giving no shits whatsoever about kids or parents who might have reasons not to want to be exposed to their breath in the middle of a pandemic.

Enough!! Disgusting and deplorable. If you don’t want to wear a mask, you’re free to stay home. Good riddance!

Vaccines are freely available and they work. The virus is never going away. Every single winter, for the rest of human time, this virus will circulate and kill a lot people. Just the like the flu. It's very sad but that's our lives now. We don't have to perpetuate a society of total terror, where people feel afraid to be around other people without a mask. And we definitely shouldn't be raising kids in a world where they're told to be afraid to go inside and be with other people without a mask. COVID-19 is less dangerous for kids than the flu.

I think it is a fair opinion that the time for mandatory masking has ended. If you want to wear one, that seems like a completely fair and reasonable thing to do. If you don't want to wear one, you shouldn't be denied participation in day-to-day life for not doing so.

I repeat, the virus is never going away. Ever.

Depends on who's asking: If the library asked for masks to be worn, then you wear one. That's what's known as "property rights." I don't know why those are so thoroughly disrespected. Was a nice conceit that we had going for a while.

I hope everyone who was accosted by one of these schmucks gets their addresses found so that those people can retaliate by breaking into their houses. Would be completely fair play, really.

This is the “State” enforcing it, no some property owner. Shouldn’t you be outraged?

Not no government. I like public spaces and services. Government is sociopathic and corrupt, but I'll credit them because they can and do run a decent library.

the *stupidest* line of reasoning against covid mitigation and you should feel bad for having spent any time writing it.

Do vaccine/mask mandates only apply to certain people? You have the leader of the BPD antivax faction dining at a restaurant while 2 BPD officers watch, the city keeps pushing back the deadline for employee vaccines and now these people. If you are not going to enforce it then why have it?

up

Yes, it doesn't apply to 6% of 10000+ BTU.

And we’re not in the middle of a pandemic, we’re at the tail end and need to start returning to normal like other developed countries.

More than one hundred thousand Americans died of covid in the last two months. That includes more than three hundred and sixty confirmed covid deaths in Massachusetts in the last seven days, in case you're thinking that you'll be OK here.

Vaccines work, masks have become virtue signaling at this point. Masks good no masks, bad.
The headline of "covidbreathers" is proof.
No mask means you have covid..I guess.

Hot off the presses from the MMWR

The findings of this report reinforce that in addition to being up to date with recommended COVID-19 vaccinations, consistently wearing face masks or respirators while in indoor public settings protects against the acquisition of SARS-CoV-2 infection

But going maskless in a public enclosed setting during these times, is an FU to everyone. So what does that make it a vice signaling?

up
Voting closed 0

...when people wear them. People like those in this video continually refuse... for what? Talk about virtue signaling... the whole mask protest is one big signal that y'all are above the rules, and you aren't going to "bow to the man."

And no, no mask does NOT mean you have covid. No mask DOES mean you have no respect for your neighbors and fellow citizens. People like those in this video make that painfully clear.

up
Voting closed 3

No mask doesnt get you labeled inconsiderate it gets you labeled covidbreathers. On this thread anyway.

up
Voting closed 0

if they have anything resembling a coherent ideology it seems to be that everyone should get covid so that we’ll reach herd immunity, the immunocompromised and the elderly be damned.

so yeah, covidbreather feels accurate.

…just to show how big of an a*hole they all could be. They showed up at the children’s reading room with their children for the purpose of filming outrage content that they could post for internet likes and street cred from their fellow scumbags. Being the IRL version of a sh*t post is these people’s whole vibe.

This isn’t like that time when someone forgets their mask while running into CVS. They are provoking people just so they can film their perceived martyrdom. They deserve all the contempt.

up

Like the nurse who filmed the lady with her mask pulled down while reading on the T. The train was nearly empty and all she had to do is walk away and any percieved threat of catching covid would be eliminated but she decided to film and shame her.
I said it before, if you are vaccinated and wearing a mask a random maskless person shouldn't worry you , unless you want to virtue signal how good you are and how bad the maskless person is. These people are are maskless aholes and there are masked aholes as well.
I was in stop and shop before the last storm and an old guy had his mask pulled down, I just went the other way, I didn't pull my phone out and make a big deal about it, that's the manager of the stores problem not mine.

up

… that their mask has slipped down and needs to be pulled up. Behave as if it’s just an oversight. Often it is. It has worked for me. I don’t go out of my way.

But you weren't engaged in a "civil discussion". You were making the same old bad faith pseudo-arguments you've been making for months, and which have gained nothing in the way of merit, only an awful rancid stench.

STAY IN YOUR FUCKING LANE

You don't know shit about any of this.

Can I come to where you work and tell you a bunch of stupid shit about things I don't know about? NO?

Then STOP SPEWING about this. Opinion != understanding.

I don't even think it takes an epidemiologist like myself to immediately see how fundamentally ignorant your comments are here. Every single post just screams to the world what a fool you are.

I don't even care if it's virtue signaling at this point. Somebody who cares enough to virtue signal by wearing a mask is more statistically likely to be vaccinated, to be thoughtful about gathering in massive groups, etc - an since I don't want to be around unvaccinated assholes who go to super spreader events and then out into public without a care for anyone else, people who willfully throw fits about wearing masks are people I don't want to be around.

Anecdotally, friends in retail have said their incidences of regular level bad-behavior from customers has gone down since people who won't do masks but are happy to go support "freedom businesses" aren't coming in and there seems to be a correlation. Unfortunately incidences of batshit insane bad-behavior are up because people who won't do masks and need to make sure NOBODY ELSE WEARS MASKS EITHER are storming in and throwing a fit.

…need to start looking like other developed countries before the US can act like said countries. Currently, we lag way behind and the way we’re racking up the body count is quite telling. These child-abusing* anti-mask scumbags would be well advised to convince their fellow travelers vaccinated if their goal actually is to “get back normal,” which I doubt it is.

(*a little girl says to her parent “I’m scared” at ~2:30. If you intentionally do this to your kid, you are an abuser.)

up

I'm starting to wonder if we deserve to be called a developed country at all considering how some of these mouth-breathers act.

Issue because of the size of the USA. The UK is at 71%, while MA is at 75% vaccination rate. Guess which territory is ending its mandates.

So your comment isn’t valid.

And there are immigration control checkpoints at all locations where one can enter Massachusetts.

The City of Boston has a mask mandate. Some other municipalities do as well, though most in the Commonwealth does not. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has no such mandate.

So at this point, you are trying to drive a comparison between the City of Boston, a city in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, in the country of the United State of America, with another country, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Apples and watermelons.

If a bunch of people feel more comfortable with those around them wearing a mask, wear the fucking mask. If the store/building policy is to wear a mask, wear the fucking mask. Same goes for a shirt and shoes even if you feel those are also unnecessary too.

It's basic decency to follow the rules when you're in someone else's house. If you don't like the rules, go somewhere else.

This whole, "Let's have fun by making people unhappy" thing has been the theme of the last year and it needs to end. Surely people can find a hobby beyond, "Piss people off".

I know plenty of people who go by their middle name instead of their first name and I don't act like a dick by insisting on calling them by their "real" name. Someone wants to be she/her or he/him why would I give any more of a shit than with calling people by their middle name?

The idea that "kids shouldn't be masked (because they don't die from COVID)" is bullshit. Kids carry the disease and give it to those around them. And guess what? You can't isolate a 4 year old. At the very least they're going to infect their parent(s). At worst, they'll infect every other kid at school and their parents and their grandparents and their parents' friends...

COVID isn't a YOU problem, it's an US problem.

AND there are still some small percentage of children dying from COVID too!

The concept that we need to stop having children wear masks as some sort of ramp back to normalcy seems to have cropped up recently from god knows where...and it's extremely dumb and I'm tired of seeing people reiterate it like it has some foundation in common sense that the rest of us aren't privy to.

Hey Adam!

In the future, it might be better to tweet a screen recording of the original video on the UHub account.

Gets the information out there, without giving these bozos the clicks and views they crave.

up

Wait, back up. What would an anti-masker be doing in a library?

up

Perhaps a misunderstanding about what “owning the libs” means?

Fecal agitation. Same reason they show up in any number of places where they would normally not be caught dead in.

Yeah I kinda agree. Lets not elevate them.

If you use chrome on a PC/Mac, there's a plugin for twitter you can use to download a video directly from the tweet intact.

Don't want to use a plug in? There's a few websites out there that will go and get the video file for you.

Almost as many people have been dying from covid every DAY as died on 9/11. That was once, this is day after day. Then we launched two wars, gave up a lot of privacy rights and spent trillions. And renamed French fries to freedom fries in the congressional cafeteria. Yet half our country will do nothing with 9/11 level deaths daily, when much less is being asked.

up
Voting closed 3

We gave a (expletive) back then.

Death is not a threat to an overworked, angry, undereducated, and culturally vacant populace.

up
Voting closed 0

We didn't care more back then at all. 9/11 was just something Real America could externalize and blame on brown people and our response gave us a chance to use extreme military force, both things that are very near and dear to America's heart. Covid offers neither.

up
Voting closed 3

That's because average age of COVID deaths is still around 82. Average age of 9/11 deaths was a lot lower than 82.

If someone told you that your grandkids will die at age 82 of pneumonia, you'd be like "OK" and finish your coffee. If someone told you that your grandkids will die at age 30 in a fiery inferno, then you'd be spitting out your coffee.

up
Voting closed 1

my grandkids would die at age 82 of pneumonia even though there was a widely available vaccine against pneumonia and known measures to prevent 82-year olds from getting pneumonia and that people were refusing to do both those things for no good reason...I would wonder what would happen in the next few decades that would make so much of this country so stupid and selfish.

The woman wearing a yellow shirt is complaining about what is appropriate while using a baby to justify her provocation. What does she really want? Wearing or not wearing a mask is minor. What is really angry about?

up
Voting closed 4

The same people who call masks virtue singalong are some of the reason why we still have to wear masks because of spreads and mutations. They are also the same people usually who think the election was stolen or that critical race theory and learning about actual US history are the same thing.

If it were me - arrest them all, put their kids in DSS to show them they are unfit parents. You can’t fix stupid but bring the hammer down, show people what living stupid means.

No one wants to wear masks, but we do to stop the spread. This country is full of wonderful people as well as selfish ignorant people. As for the cops, if it were me, they should get nothing in exchange for the mandate. You get kicked with no pension if you flout mask or mandate rules, if you don’t give a crap about public safety, go bag groceries.
