The street outside the UHubcave in Roslindale was so salt-encrusted this morning, people going out needed sunglasses for all the glare off the gleaming white surface.

UHubcave?
Do you also have a UHubmobile?
Of course!
It's the one with the UHub and "I Survived Storrow Drive!" stickers on the back.
Seriously!
Crunch, crunch everywhere.
genuinely curious
why was there so much damn salt for a dusting?
Lawsuits
its more cost effective to just throw a sh*t ton of salt down so people don't get hurt than it is to fight them (and pay out) in court.
Cuz you know it takes one slip and that person will have every ambulance chaser in the metro area ready and willing to take the case and sue the town for 'improper snow treatment & making the roadway a hazard'
Our society, where we spend more money on stupid crap to avoid paying out lawsuits.
I won't even begin to start on how bad salt is for the environment ....
Is that true for municipal
Is that true for municipal streets? Can you sue the city (and win) for slipping on the road?
As far as I know, yes
Anywhere its unsafe is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
That
has never happened. Even Morgan and Morgan wouldn’t touch that.
its more cost effective to
Then why doesn't the city clear pedestrian areas?
I've heard that
We asked the guy that plows the driveway to our townhouses to ease up on the salt and he said he was doing it to avoid a lawsuit.
Really?
Flash freeze
I don’t know about Boston, but driving through Providence Saturday night was downright treacherous.
This is another reason...
I'm going to continue wearing a mask even after the pandemic breaks.
That stuff tastes terrible when a speeding vehicle blows it in your face and it also leaves a nasty aftertaste.
Ah, snow removal in Boston, a
Ah, snow removal in Boston, a fine example of not being able to make everyone happy.
Very true
I have a street near me in Boston that looks twice as salty as Adam's photo. If you let an inch of snow accumulate, the mayor (any mayor) gets crap about "not caring about the neighborhoods." I was just up in Southern Main on Saturday night. About 2 inches of snow fell and the town did nothing. The side streets were slippery but you know what? People are perfectly capable of dealing with that.
metrowest
I live in a quiet metrowest town, and when you cross over into our town, you are greeted with a "[Town Name] Uses Minimal Salt - Use Caution" signs at the border.
Our streets, on the other hand, have more salt on them than is in that picture. The irony is glorious.
It was everywhere like that -
It was everywhere like that - maybe just using up what they have on hand before they start street cleaning April 1st
There are a lot of little
There are a lot of little salt mountains in the street left over from the other storms in my neighborhood.
Would you like
Would you like fries with that?
