MBTA resumes E Line trolley service

The T announced today it's started running trains again between Brigham Circle and Heath Street after work to replace tracks and to add equipment that, when turned on, should help keep trolleys from crashing into each other.

On Monday, the T will shut the Green Line north of Haymarket, partly for work to prepare for the opening of the bulk of the Green Line Extension - now scheduled for around Thanksgiving - partly because of the ongoing demolition of what's left of the Government Center Garage above Haymarket station.

If I remember correctly, the E Line beyond Brigham Circle (Huntington Ave and South Huntington Ave) was shut down not too long ago to put in new tracks. To get to the VA, one had to rely on the Route 39 bus.
When that began, I resumed driving there. I'm wondering why this additional work was not done when the new track was laid in?

That closure is only temporary. I'm sure when the 2030s roll around service will be restored.
