Family of man who died in I-93 rollover sues Roslindale man they say caused the crash while racing at speeds of up to 120 m.p.h.

The family of Michael Wojdag of Hanson, who died on I-93 in Braintree on Feb. 19 after his SUV rolled over and he was ejected last week sued Hedweens Quetant of Roslindale, whom they caused the crash while racing another driver.

Quetant currently faces charges of manslaughter, motor-vehicle homicide, reckless operation, racing and witness intimidation in Norfolk Superior Court for the crash, which also injured Wojdag's wife and son. Quetant and the four other people stuffed into his Civic were not seriously injured, State Police said following the crash.

State Police say that Quetant was doing 120 m.p.h. when he slammed into Wojdag's vehicle. The driver of the car he was allegedly racing has yet to be found.

In their wrongful-death lawsuit, filed in Suffolk Superior Court, Wojdag's family says:

As a direct and proximate result of Quetat's negligence and carelessness, the Plaintiff's decedent was caused severe conscious physical and mental pain and suffering, incurred medical expense, was deprived of a chance at survival, and further, the Plaintiff's decedent was killed.

The family is seeking damages that would be set following a jury trial on their counts of negligence and causing conscious pain and suffering.

How much money do they expect to get?

It's way past time to raise the absurdly low insurance requirements of $20k/$40k.

virtually every night on the Southeast Expressway between the O'Neill Tunnel and the Braintree Split. MSP do not have the resources to simultaneously cover the entire stretch. The same can probably be said for 128 between 24 and Braintree, and 24 down to Brockton and even Taunton. The solution might be an unmarked task force, at least for weekends overnight, and forfeiture of vehicle for a second offense, to allow a change for nice young men like Quetant to amend their ways.

I used to live in an apartment at the Braintree split and you could hear and see the traffic at the split. You hear the racing happening in the middle of the night. It has been going on a while.

The chances of manslaughter and other charges sticking aren't great.
Than chances of Quetat having any assets from which to collect are probably pretty low. And if he beats the charges and is found libel in this case he will spend a life unemployed or working under the table.

I am all for lawsuits like this. Hit people where it is most felt and that’s their pockets. I’m sure that speed demon has at least some kind of asset to hand over. Was Michael not wearing a seatbelt?
