May dates set for elections to replace Santiago, Coppinger as state representatives
The Secretary of State's office has set May 2 for primary elections to select candidates for May 30 special elections to replace outgoing state Reps. Jon Santiago (South End) and Ed Coppinger (West Roxbury and a smidge of Brookline).
Santiago is leaving to become state secretary of veterans services while Coppinger is leaving for a new job with the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council.
Two West Roxbury residents have already filed papers with the state to run for his seat once election dates are set: William MacGregor and David Giordano.
MacGregor was chief of staff for former City Councilor Matt O'Malley, whose district included West Roxbury. He is currently a loan officer at a mortgage company.
Giordano is a patent attorney.
