Three local newsrooms get grants to get even newsier

Three local newsrooms have won $100,000 grants to bolster local news coverage in the Boston area, from a group called Press Forward, which is trying to reinvigorate really local journalism.

The Dorchester Reporter, which now mainly covers Dorchester and Mattapan, says it will use to increase its reporting in Boston neighborhoods.

The Boston Institute for Non-Profit Journalism says it will use the money to hire more staff and up existing writers' wages to something approaching a living wage.

And the Northeastern University School of Journalism says it will use its grant to support The Scope, a student-run site "focused on telling stories of justice, hope and resilience in Boston’s core neighborhoods."

I hope they cover billionaires using "donations" from their foundation to local groups to change city policies to their whim and those billionaires who oppose roof decks on other people's property which were legally approved.
