Blast from the past: Joe Malone thinking about running against Delahunt

Republican operative Todd Domke tells Jim Braude on NECN tonight the one-time state treasurer authorized him to tell Jim he's considering a run against 10th District Rep. William Delahunt. Could Jane Swift be pondering a comeback, too?

When did Waltham move into the district?
Tell Steakhouse Malone to shove it. Doesn't he live in Waltham? Little far from the South Shore. Bill Delahunt is no Croakley. Joe wasn't responsible for the worst of the Big Dig car wreck but the lugnuts were loosened under his watch. I'm signing up to work for Delahunt the second Joe announces.
Census 2010
Even if MA can keep all the current seats (doubtful), they will have to be moving things around anyway. If Markey's district stretches from Medford to Framingham, Delahunt's current zone could shift around, too.
I thought it didn't matter, legally
That the only requirement is that you live in the state, not the district. Or am I wrong?

Malone lives in Scituate Harbor these days. As a Scituate resident, I will happily work for Delahunt if he has a Republican challenger.
Tsunami effects of Brown-Coakley
Entirely predictable. Republicans in blue and red states alike have been energized by this result and will target any Democrat deemed remotely vulnerable. Lots of Dems in safe seats will have to work harder to be re-elected because of this too.
Sadly for Martha Coakley, there will be a lot more Democrats across the country uttering her name with anger due to the incalculable number of extra hours and dollars that will be necessary to get/keep Dems elected in the wake of the Massachusetts Senate election.
Who woulda thunk that Massachusetts would have this kind of national political influence?

So, the Republican pecking order is Scott Brown, Joe Malone, then Jane Swift?
Way I see it, there is a good chance Democrats pick up two Senate seats, this year - Brown and Tisei, dropping them from 5 out of forty to 3 out of forty. Hurrah! Things are looking up!
Charlie Baker will have no coat-tails just like Mitt Romney had no coat-tails, mainly because both men weren't Republican "establishment" and didn't care to be. Did they even show up for any of the party's fundraisers?
I'm appalled, aghast, and intrigued by the Brown win. It makes me want to take all my toys and run home. I spent the day in bed. Still, when it gets down to brass tacks, nothing's different today than it was yesterday. Brown's a freshman senator with little pull. His constituents will be crying for him to throw them some bones. He'd better deliver, and fast.
More national than local
For the Democrats, the disaster of Massachusetts is much more national than local.
For better or worse (or, more likely, both), not much will change in our own backyard.
I met this guy at a Rudy
I met this guy at a Rudy Giuliani event in the 2008 primaries. I told him I went to high school with Rudy's son, Andrew. I asked how Rudy could elected when his own son hates him. Joe Malone looked so bummed, he knew ol' Rudolph had no chance.
