ESPN still hasn't picked up the story, nearly 24 hours after it was first reported (I read it around lunch time yesterday, seemed to be breaking then).
It drives me nuts that they won't report on this, and the only conclusion is that they're covering for Shaq because he has a TV show on ABC.
Now back to Brett Favre highlights....

But how are we sure this isn't just a nuisance law suit? Celebrities are sued all the time, mostly for false purposes. What kind of vetting did you do before going ahead with publication? Do you know what Information Week did? ESPN is probably doing some research before deciding whether to publish.

They reported on a lawsuit. You're right: A lawsuit doesn't mean the guy is guilty of anything. As for InformationWeek, they've been around forever, had a decent reputation back when I worked for a competitor and I'm betting they picked up on the story because of the hacking angle (they basically write about enterprise computer networking, i.e., stuff that is a sure cure for insomnia for the 99.999% of Americans who don't run computer networks at Fortune 500 companies).

Somehow I have a hard time imagining Kazaam the rapping genie hacking into someone's computer.
