A blog just about Boston's city-council elections
I started this blog because I'm angry. I'm angry because a disturbing disconnect exists between the people of this city, this state, and this country, and the officials less than a majority of them elect. And to clarify, I said "people," not "constituents" or "voters" or "consumers" or even "citizens"—but people. If we, as a whole, are going to consent to be governed—which, as an anarchist I don't think we have to—then we should have as much say as possible in the governing process. But we don't.
For those of you in Allston/Brighton, Allston Brighton Community Blog and Brighton Centered are your essential resources for this Tuesday's preliminary city-council election.

Northeastern University-based blog? Derek, please define
Are you a student/employee/faculty member? I live in the Fenway and if anything raises my suspicions when it comes to politics as usual, it would be Northeastern. Kindly elucidate.

Hey Katie,
To answer your question, I'm a student at Northeastern, writer and editor at The Northeastern News, and a former Fenway resident. Last year I lived on Park Drive, and the year before that I spent some time on Queensberry Street. Now I live in JP.
When I say I'm running a Northeastern University-based blog, I'm really talking about my readers, many of whom are students. Right now, my goal is to make the election, and city politics as a whole, less foreign and more accessible to everyone, but the people I'm most concerned about reaching are my peers.
Thanks for showing interest. I'd like to hear your thoughts on Northeastern's actions in the community lately. If you're interested in talking further, feel free to contact me at [email protected]. And if you'd like to know a little more about me and what I do beforehand, check out the article on my newspaper's expansion in this month's Fenway News.
