Globe columnist to librarians: Geez, can't you losers take a joke?

Bob Ryan got librarians all riled up by writing that Tom Brady would never date "a homely librarian." Ryan responds to all the librarians who wrote him to complain by saying he has no doubt there are library babes but that the key was "homely," not "librarian:"
... I insist that instead of getting all huffy about a very apt reference, all these "offended" librarians should have had a laugh. I cannot believe the lengths some of them went to defend the profession. They apparently think that we think they're all geeks. I don't. No one is more committed to the concept of the printed word than I. ...

The Person of Ombuds shall
The Globular Person of Ombuds shall be hearing from Don forthwith.
Re: The Person of Ombuds shall
Probably not. The Globe seems to have unceremoniously dropped its Ombudsman (as well as Starts and Stops), I wrote over a month ago complaining about the unfilled S&S and have yet to hear.
Note: It is still offensive
So guys will date librarians, but not homely women?
Puhhhleeze.
The problem isn't the "librarian" versus "homely" it is that Bob Ryan seems to think a woman's total value to society is in her appearance.
What a juvenile asshat.
Not the first time for Bob Ryan
I like reading Bob Ryan most of the time, but he's got a real problem. Anyone else remember this incident from 2003?
Yeah it may be offensive,
Yeah it may be offensive, but probably as accurate as hell. And btw, Gisele probably wouldn't date any mindless sports reporters either.
Don't forget
Batgirl was a librarian (and a biker).
Hubba hubba.
