Fenway Park area to be locked down tonight

Boston Police put Sox fans on notice: Nobody will be let into the area around Fenway Park after the seventh sixth inning tonight:

If you are not already inside an establishment, be it a bar or restaurant, you will not be able to gain access to the area in and around Fenway Park. If you are inside an establishment and choose to exit the establishment in the 6th inning, you will not be able to return.

Plus, count on massive police patrols and video surveillance. Oh, and students? Boston Police want your parents to call you today to remind you how to celebrate responsibly.

They bumped it up one inning early. Maybe they published it as the 7th, but when I just checked (approx. 5:00 pm), they said that it would be the 6th. I was a little surprised they were moving it up ...

why are they doing this? If anything, the lesson from 2004 is that less police presence is needed. If the police hadn't shot Victoria Snelgrove, she'd still be alive to celebrate again tonight.

Colin the Bold reports:

6:45 eight police choppers, 4 mbta buses, a paddy wagon, and an unidentified truck make their way down Brookline, turning onto Yawkey. I should mention that Brookline is being shut down at nine tonight when the game begins.

So, is it possible that all this overreaction by the Boston police could single-handedly jinx the Sox tonight? If the Sox don't win, can we blame the cops?

News like this makes me glad the World Series ended in four. Never mind who won; I'm just happy there aren't any more games at Fenway.
