Alleged thigh groper arrested on a 23 bus
A Roslindale man was pulled off a 23 bus and arrested on indecent assault and battery charges Friday after he allegedly moved his hand up the thigh of a woman sitting next to him.
According to an MBTA Transit Police report, the woman, 68, told officers that Douglas Beaton, 46, appeared to be asleep - but occasionally muttering incomprehensibly - as she sat on the bus. As the bus stopped at Columbia Road and Washington Street shortly after 6 p.m., however:
The victim states that she felt the hand of Beaton on her right leg, the hand was rubbing her thigh under her skirt. The victim slapped Beaton's hand away, "telling him to stop and not to put his hands on her."
The driver, noticing the now upset passenger, asked her to come forward and tell him what happened, after which he stopped the bus and summoned police.
Innocent, etc.

Guilty until proven innocent
Unfortunately that's the psychological effect of almost every mugshot/story combo. It seems that there should either: 1. Always be a mugshot for criminal defendants or 2. Never be one.
I don't like the fact that sometimes there is one and sometimes there isn't, depending on whether or not the DA chooses to email it to you or you remember to ask for it or whatever. Having one's mugshot and name printed in the paper or on the web is its own punishment, regardless of the final outcome of the case. But it's your site, Adam, and I know you do the best you can. Just my 2 cents.
This CREEP right here!!!

There are times when the mugshot tells you all you need to know:

He was just turning his life
He was just turning his life around.... right ?
Good work, bus driver
Not only was the driver alert and aware that something wrong was going on, but made sure to find out what it was and did something about it. Nice work.
Most drivers ignore what the passengers are doing.
Nice Job Mr Bus Driver
Thank you for coming forward and taking the extra step, Ralph Cramden would be proud
