Free skating at Fenway Park for Boston residents

On Saturday, the city will give away 3,600 tickets to skate on the field on Jan. 1 and Jan. 16.

What a fiasco it was last time, trying to get tickets. I won't waste my time....

They should just sell them in
They should just sell them in the first place, and donate the proceeds to charity.
Otherwise they're just enriching Boston-resident scalpers.

OR allow resale. If the city holds a lottery, and I win a ticket that's worth $250, then why shouldn't I be allowed to take the $250, which might mean a lot more to me or my family than an afternoon of skating at Fenway Park?

You could ask to see an addressed bill like a phone bill / credit card bill at the door.
We do it for parking permits, so do it for these tickets that are supposed to go to Boston Residents.
Or just ask for a name of the raffle winners, and write their name's in on the ticket and check ID's.
Don't want to deal with the hassle, that's fine, others do. There's very easy ways to cut out the scalpers and middle men trying to take advantage of a nice gesture by the city for their own gain. Screw them.
The city shouldn't be silently approving of this behavior.
Or just
dorp the whole silly notion of having to issue tickets, and unfairly restricting the activity to Boston residents at the same time.
For the record, I do not skate, but know people who do and would like the opportunity to do so on a rink at Fenway Park.
