Ian at good faith did a lot of work for me, as well as many of my friends back in Syracuse and I've had work done at Good Faith in the past as well. Solid shop and T Anthony's right downstairs is great to grab a bite beforehand.
Another vote for Fat Ram's. I've got no ink myself, but I know quite a few people who have had excellent work done there. There is usually a bit of a waiting list, but from what I've seen and heard, it seems to be well worth it.
Thirded. I went there for my first. I did have to wait a few months, but I was extremely picky about who I wanted to do it. Went in with my roommate to book the appointments, she was less picky and had hers done within the week. (I also have to mention- even with the intricacy and detail of mine, the cost was much much less than I expected!)
I HIGHLY recommend Jen Clench Guertin at Anchor Steam Tattoo in Newport, RI. It's a little bit of a drive but this RISD grad does beautiful work at a very reasonable price. She did my calf piece and I love it. http://www.anchorsteamtattoo.com/Anchor_Steam_Tatt...
They have several artists that range from 'traditional Navy' style to anything out there today.
I got one there, a small one, done with great precision. I can't say what it is, being I live in Boston, but it's a city logo...and Mayor Bloomberg filed a copyright infringement notice against me.

Last resort
If all else fails, you could hire this guy... if you don't mind someone who bashes people's heads in and "keeps the hurting going".

Its a bit of a drive, but Tom Sardinha is worth it. If he was good enough to do all the work on Shutter Island he is probably good enough to ink you!
