Want your vote to count? Vote today
You'll be one of the few and proud, in today's generally low-key Thursday primaries. Some Boston-related races (all Democratic, natch):
Maura Hennigan vs. Robert Dello Russo, Suffolk County Superior Court Criminal Clerk. They hate each other.
Sal LaMattina vs. Patty Campatelli, Suffolk County Register of Probate. LaMattina hopes to join the pantheon of city councilors who ascend to one of the remarkable number of low-maintenance jobs offered by our vestigial county (see Hennigan, Maura).
Sonia Chang-Diaz vs. Roy Owens, 2nd Suffolk State Senate. Oh, who are we kidding? Notable mainly because Althea Garrison isn't running, leaving the perennial-candidate slot open for Owens. Also notable because the district now extends into Roslindale, which means our mailman probably now has back problems from carrying the roughly 68,000 pieces of campaign literature Chang-Diaz decided we need to see.
Bart Timilty vs. Brian Clinton vs. Robert Jubinville vs. Patrick McCabe, Governor's Council, District 2. Some Bostonians get to replace the late Kelly Timilty on this colonial holdover that serves to vote on judicial nominations and sign off on state funding. Yes, Bart is Kelly's brother. Clinton is a former aide to city Councilor Rob Consalvo, Jubinville is a lawyer from some town you've never heard of who ran against Kelly Timilty twice. McCabe is, no doubt, a nice guy. Jubinville has my vote because he has a great name.
Gloria Fox vs. Rufus Jackson Faulk and Jed Hresko, 7th Suffolk State Representative. She's the incumbent.
Angelo Scaccia vs. Anthony Solimine,, 14th Suffolk State Representative. He's the longtime state rep notable for almost never saying anything about anything, although he long served on the BPL board of trustees and once fought to keep a Wegmans out of Westwood, which is nowhere near his district. Solimine who?

This guy should not be working in the court system, not to mention he has no formal education and is highly unqualified.
Voting Turnout Update (Brookline 14th)
Voted this morning in the Brookline 14th (none of the races listed above were on the ballot). We were voter numbers 16 and 17 at 7:40 ish. I found that to be pathetic in a precinct that usually has pretty good turnout (especially when there are Brookliners on the ballot, as there were on both the Dem and Rep ballots this time).
Thanks For The Reminder
There are some primary races to vote on in Watertown, including Governor's Council. I had totally forgotten.

Perennial candidate Althea Garrison
Turns out she's running against Carlos Henriquez for state rep in the 5th district.
