By adamg on Wed, 10/17/2012 - 10:51pm
Shortly before 10 p.m., by a commuter-rail train on the Northeast Corridor tracks, just south of Canterbury Street.
MBTA Transit Police report the victim, a white male who appeared to be in his 20s, was hit by an inbound Franklin Line train.
In August, 2011, a man was killed by an Amtrak train at Hyde Park station; a little more than a month later, another person died when hit by a commuter-rail train just south of the station.

Nothing in the mainstream news
about this. Why? I know suicides where people jump in front of trains aren't reported, and I understand why. But I notice more and more incidents in and around town that go un-reported except by bloggers.
And WHDH has no problem sending a helicopter [!] to follow a sh*t scared coyote in Mattapan?
boston.com had something short
Here.
Yeah, we need to get rid of trains
or at least reduce their speeds to 20mph in urban areas as is proposed for cars. Suicide is sad - what can we do about all the cyclists attempting it? :-)
Well, trains have tracks
And you have only one train of thought on a single track - that being MY CAR IS ME AND NOBODY CAN GET IN MY WAY WAHHHH DON'T MAKE ME HAVE TO LEARN TO DRIVE AND FOLLOW RULES AND STOP EVUHHHYH WAHHHH WHHHHHAAAAAHHH WAHHHAHHHH
Markk02474, forget that
Markk02474, forget that idea...this person was tresspassing, shouldn't have been on the tracks in the first place. People should know not to be on train tracks, getting hit by a train at 20mph will kill you as well buddy....what's next? reduce the speed to 5mph?
In case of troll...

Suicide by train
Sadly, information now populating Facebook by those who knew the young man, is surfacing.
This appears to be a suicide by train.
Many postings are saying he is now at peace, suggesting he was troubled.
Most troubling is that this is the second suicide in the family. A sibling died just a few years ago, also at their own hands.
The other victim is the locomotive operator, who could not stop the train, and when operating at as low as 50 mph will need as much as a mile to fully stop safely. Imagine seeing it coming and not being able to do anything.
This is sad all around, and there is no room for it being politicized.
