Guy who steals woman's iPhone on a 66 bus gets pounded into a snowbank by another rider

Transit Police report that around 7 p.m. yesterday, a man riding the 66 bus grabbed a fellow passenger's iPhone 5S and jumped off the bus at Cambridge and Wilton streets in Allston. And then didn't get very far:

Another passenger who witnessed the robbery came to the victim's aid and pursued the robber off the bus and chased him down tackling him into a snow bank. The Good Samaritan demanded the robber return the victims cell phone. The robber, apparently surprised by the Good Samaritan's actions, held up both his hands to show he no longer possessed the cell and stated he dropped the phone to the ground as he was being chased. The Good Samaritan then released the robber who fled in an unknown direction.

He's described as white or Hispanic, in his mid-to-late 20s, about 5'10" and wearing a blue vest with a hood, a gray sweater and black plastic-frame glasses. If he sounds familiar, contact Transit Police detectives at 617-222-1050 or vi an anonymous text tip to 873873.

Police report they recovered the woman's phone and gave it back to her.
