The design is not impressive. What they really should spend some money on is content and wait, oh yeah, a friggin' proofreader. One who can tell the difference between it and it's, and your and you're.
ETA: On their desktop site, BDC needs to fix its comment function. The ability to comment on a website is not a new thing, but yet, the way it works on BDC, you might think they had just invented the internet.
The menu covers three-quarters of the screen, making it impossible to read the content. But the old design was like that, too. Maybe I have an old mobile browser or something, but, meh.
The menu was covering most of the screen. So I downloaded the lastest update that I had previoulsly been ignoring and it disappeared. The new version of boston.com appeared a few days ago and there is still no menu problem.
The content is crap, but I think the design is easy on the eyes. It can't be any worse than the old conglomeration of crap that was just slapped on the page. My main complaint is that I can't stand the bold font on the actual article page. Oh and it needs way more Bill Brett party photos.
Now they're doing a (beta) conversion of the full, desktop site to the same ugly mobile design. Awful awful awful. This "design everything for mobile" crap is killing sites left and right.

Another victim of the flat design fad
Boston.com just copied every other website with a god-awful design using a free template they found online. You won't believe what happens next!
