The real question is why the current ownership
has improved everything except the food.
I mean, John Henry et al. can deliver two World
Series, execute vast physical improvements to the
park, and completely turn around the surly Harrington
customer service ethos.
But they can't make their food vendor deliver $.40
cents of bread and meat for less than $5, in a fashion
that's not going to poison the consumer thereof?
Does anyone know why Aramark has the contract, and
what the length of it is?
Why?
Likely a long-standing relationship with a good amount of the profit margin delivered to the Red Sox. That's just my best guess, but I do know someone who should know the answer to the second part of your question (and maybe even something about the first part).
Aramark
Aramark was the food vendor and I believe a minority owner under the previous Sox ownership. Before the team changed hands, they were given a contract extension by the Harrington to continue to be the food vendor at Fenway even after the team changed hands.
