Phoenix Media empire gets even smaller
By Ron Newman on Fri, 10/10/2014 - 12:50am
WPRI reports that the Providence Phoenix will publish its final issue next Thursday, ending nearly 36 years of service to Rhode Island. The Boston Phoenix stopped publishing in March 2013.
With the Providence paper's closing, only the weekly Portland Phoenix remains of what was once a large regional media empire: Boston Phoenix, Providence Phoenix, Portland Phoenix, Worcester Phoenix, Stuff@Night magazine, WFNX radio, and the Spanish-language El Planeta newspaper.

Man, Stephen Mindich is such
Man, Stephen Mindich is such a failure he could look into a mirror and not be able to see anything.
A wealthy failure, but very true
He should never be forgiven for selling 'FNX. It left a huge hole in Boston radio.
True. If he had to sell it,
True. If he had to sell it, he could've found a buyer that wouldn't have gutted it and eliminated 25 jobs in the process.
That's not true!
Mindich has always excelled at human trafficking!
Yeah, he only ran a newspaper
Yeah, he only ran a newspaper for, what, forty years? And a radio station for thirty? We should all fail so badly.
Is that a "short" joke?

"At Nite"
Don't forget his free weekly "At Nite", basically a listing of escort services -- that's still around.
At least he stopped putting photos of bands on the cover
which deliberately misled tourists on the street into picking up a copy, thinking it was a guide to live-music nightclubs and bars.
(I wonder if this practice stopped because one of the bands objected to being put on this cover?)
Lost the
papers but how about the pony tail?
Aww man
Just twisting the knife at this point. Don't really need the reminder.
