Snowdecahedrons in Dewey Square

TrueNE_79 spottted these snowdecahedrons in Dewey Square this morning.

Could they be the work of Dan Sternof Beyer, who sculpted the forms in Porter Square and elsewhere back in 2011? Well, Beyer is a member of New American Art, a collaborative interested in "beautiful, interactive public art," and just take a look at what they posted yesterday on their Tumblr site.

You beat me by 1 minute.

Must be a Red Shirt.

Just spoke to Dan. :D

I love it when people make the world more beautiful. Sounds like fun!

Beautiful snow sculptures + nerdy Star Trek references = perfection!!

First of all, huge thanks for this article.

Second, in the Star Trek episode "By Any Other Name" aliens turn crew members into cuboctahedra, which (pushes glasses up) are very mathematically different than regular dodecahedrons.

Third, here's a little walk through video of the installation

Forth, (takes off glasses) I am available to debate the political motivations of the Pythagoreans pertaining to this geometry.

Don't you also make music? Seem to remember stumbling one time in the past, and really enjoying it!

Yeah. Thanks! Just a side hobby. Here's my soundcloud.
