Ice fishing on the Neponset
By adamg on Sat, 02/28/2015 - 4:19pm
A roving UHub photographer who happened to be at the 88 Wharf building in Milton this afternoon watched a couple of guys settle in on the Dorchester side of the Neponset River for some ice fishing.

Fish? In The Neponset?
OK, maybe there's something in there, but fish? In all my time living in Lower Mills - 37 years - a couple of blocks from the Neponset, with pretty much daily viewing of that body of water - and extended periods walking the banks, etc. - I never saw a fish.
Snapping turtles, rats, shopping carts? Yes. Fish? No.
But, lo and behold, there are supposedly pickerel and bass and carp and bluegill and something called a pumpkinseed.

Having said that, maybe the river there is now a lot cleaner than it was when I lived there, but I'd be damned if I'd eat anything I caught there.
