The Burlington Fire Department reports firefighters responded to a condo project at 54 Villagewood Dr. around 9:15 a.m. to find:

A female patient, located inside a motor vehicle, with a large piece of ice sticking out of the windshield. The ice had fallen from the roof of her residence.

The large piece of ice broke the windshield and both side mirrors.

The woman was taken to the Lahey Clinic and is expected to survive, the department says. Chief Steve Yetman adds:

We are very fortunate that the victim in this instance was not more seriously injured. However, as temperatures warm up and rain mixes with the snow already packed onto rooftops, it creates very dangerous situations like this if roofs are not properly cleared.

The Herald stated it was "non-life threatening injuries."

Another good reason to park as far in the open as you can. Or inside something.

And this thread is only tangentially related, but heck, the woman will survive (though the car may be another story)

The National Weather Service is forecasting dry for the next week. Can we please get the French Toast Alert put back to green for the first time in, what, 7 weeks?

It won't make all of this go away, but psychologically, it could be a turning point.
