If you're from Belmont, any of these people look familiar?

Old photos from Belmont

KSquared reports her sister-in-law found a folder of photos just lying on the ground on Leonard Street in Belmont a few years ago, and has been trying ever since to find out who these folks are, so she can return the photos to their owner.

Any clues out there?

The color family photo at the top seems to have a very similar backdrop to the family photo on the far left. If I were a betting man, i'd say the house photo there could be the family home where these were taken. Any houses in that area look like that? Even if they've moved on, a check with the local assessors office or the current residents might be helpful.

The blonde girl in the middle of the Girls Staters photo appears to be the same as the younger girl in the photo of the four children at the top, and also the same as the adult woman's photo (partially obscured) in the bottom left. (And possibly the woman in the contemporary photo of the older couple, although those may be the parents and she just looks a lot like her mom.) Since the girls in the news clipping photo are named, she would seem to be the one to search for. Can't read the whole clipping but see that the event took place in Laramie, Wyoming - perhaps that woman or someone in her family moved to Belmont later in life?

She'll be easier to find. It'll also be easier if there are any other names listed on the pictures (just first is plenty).

I'd start with the blonde in the photo and if that didn't work, try the others since all three names seem to be listed. There are free name search sites that will sometimes bring up names of relatives as well, based off public records.

Maybe Belmont Historical Society could identify whether the photo of the house is actually from the area?

DId she try and turn it in at the police station when she found it?

the police have nothing better to do than find the owners of pieces of paper.

The finder has spent years scouring the internet trying to reunite the photos with their rightful owner. The police would have thrown it in a drawer for 30 days and then pitched it in the trash as per the law.

My suggestion would be to look for houses that sold (or residents that passed away) around the time the photos were found: they seem like the kind of folder that someone dropped while helping Mom or Dad clean out and move to Florida.

That's where people go to look for lost items.

And in this case, there is an additional reason: one way such things like personal photos can wind up in the street is a burglar dumping them, like from a safe box or jewelry box. So they could have evidence from a burglary.
