Pack of droogs hunted for weekend attack in South Boston

Boston Police report three men walking in the area of the Tynan School were attacked and beaten by a group of eight to ten white teens, many in white tank tops, at Emerson and K streets around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Police say the attack happened when the three victims, realizing they were being followed, crossed the street in what turned out to be a vain attempt to get away from the teens. The teens began beating the men and stopped only when a bystander came upon the scene and started screaming, police said.
The three declined medical attention at the scene, but two later checked themselves into a local hospital for medical attention. Capt. John Greland has posted a photo of a victim's eye after the attack and says anybody with information should contact C-6 detectives at 617-343-4742.

Here's my standard: If police are looking for somebody, and they've issued descriptions, I'll include the race. If the suspects are in custody, I don't.
I could go through my past posts about criminals on the lam and show you examples, but frankly, I have better things to do than try to convince some anon who's already proven he only sees what he wants in what I post, so if you really want some proof, go to the Crime page and look for incidents involving police searching for somebody.

I first heard about it via this tweet from John Greland, who, as mentioned in the story, is the captain at C-6. Then I did the reporterly thing and called the PR office at BPD.

How the hell do you expect someone to distinguish the suspects from other groups of teens walking down the street. Simply stating the race of a suspect is NOT synonymous with racism. And, no, you didn't call Adam racist, but you sure implied it in your post.

That's a strange way of putting it. If memory serves, Adam used the word "thug" freely for a while, but became very disturbed by right-wingers using the word "thug" to refer to any working-class young black male. He decided that, even though it formerly wasn't a slur and you could still call Whitey Bulger a thug, it was becoming a reflection of white supremacy.
So he stopped using it, and wrote a long post explaining why he would stop using it. Of course, since this process took years rather than centuries, it's too fast for "I'm not a racist, I just hate black culture and think all black men are potentially criminals"-style white Americans.

Same teens hang there every weekend torturing the neighborhood. Not sure what the cops can possibly do aside from move them along, but they always return shortly after.
Then again, the Tynan has been the spot for teen punks to hang going back over 20 years. I pity the fools that buy property there. It's a great neighborhood until the weekend rolls around.

hahaha.. i walk through those "projects" at all hours of the day and night and there is no gang activity. unless you call some colored people hanging around...gang activity. not once have i ever had a problem there.

Please don't embrace the term Sobo....people in California know the neighborhood of South Boston and know it as SOUTHIE. There are three depression era housing projects in Southie so the neighborhood is NEVER going to magically transform into your idea of Yuppie Heaven. So do everyone in Southie (that actually embraces its blue-collar Irish heritage) a favor, and move to Allston. And nothing against yuppies moving there because the majority are great, friendly, hard-working people, however it's the ones like you that make Southie natives despise them.

That place has had "trouble" kids hanging outside it since the mid to late 90's.
Short story: I grew up in the D street neighborhood in Southie in the late 70's to early 90's. I wend back to east Broadway for a house party in 97 with a friend who grew up there. I wanted a couple of slices of pizza that was down the street. He told me not to walk down there because, if they don't know you, there could be trouble.
Fast forward 20 yea s later, it's the same old thing. Yeah, I would classify these people as thugs. Attacking people just because they are unfamiliar is thug behavior. There is no reason for it. I have no doubt these kids' parents know.mFull disclosure: I'm white and so are the offenders.

Don't be so quick to assume
Don't be so quick to assume that these are poorer kids doing this stuff. This might sound hard to believe but the yuppies are probably safer walking through the projects than by some hangout spots up City Point in terms of trying to avoid being jumped by teens for no reason.
The people who rented and were priced out of the rental market are already long gone. There are plenty of homeowners that didn't cash out and move to the South Shore. There are original Southie people living in their owned homes and their kids are no different from the punks of yesteryear. They aren't going anywhere hate to break it to you.
