Casey Overpass continues to come down

So a giant aquatic dinosaur could jump out and munch them.

Could have pole vaulted over the remaining supports.

Those supports extend well below grade by another 100 feet or so. The actual level of the street there when the Casey Overpass was originally built is about that of the grade at Hyde Park Ave and Tower Street, or over at Washington Street by the MBTA yard. The "hump" in the road that is there now was created in the mid-80s when the current traffic configuration (which was supposed to fix all traffic for time immemorial) was built. The "hump" was the cheap way out of how they built it back then. Do go down another 50 or so feet, then at least another 20 or 30 for where the actual base is on all of them.

You can see the bottom of a couple from the Orange Line platform. That is about the original grade and they go down from there even more.

Of course, MassDOT is not going to even try to remove them all the way down.

They will have to be VERY CAREFUL taking down the ones that are right at the Orange Line since they cemented the subway walls and roof to the Casey's support columns. Any jack hammering of those at street level could crack the ceiling and walls of the subway if they are not careful.
