I hope the residents get their way.
.
Isn't
Isn't Lewis Wharf and most of the land north east of CC Park already "walled off" for resident / pedestrian access to the harbor?
If they continue the trend of opening up their harbor side to the harbor walk, I'm all in.
No
You can walk along the harbor from Christopher Columbus Park all the way to the Coast Guard Station. In fact, the Coast Guard station is the only section in the North End where you can't walk along the water (except for Puopolo Field where the swimming pool is up against the water).
Bunch of rich bigots trying
Bunch of rich bigots trying to keep the unwashed from frequenting their tony waterfront.
Eh No!
More like a bunch of rich bigots trying to prevent even richer bigots from blocking their water view which they paid handsomely for.
The unwashed masses can still access the waterfront as mentioned above.
It's gonna end in rich on
It's gonna end in rich on rich crime.
Picturing this
I'll have my people call your people and yell at/possibly sue them
Cutting off their nose
The current land use there is parking. PARKING.
The proposal involves the creation of a new 1.25 acre waterfront park and 1,800 feet of extended Harborwalk, and yet they oppose it on the basis that it BLOCKS the waterfront? They should be celebrating this, that parking lot is a hideous waste of space that could be better used for both public and private use.
Always wondered.
Yes, I always wondered how such a prime spot could survive as parking for so long.
I'm not a demographer but
I'm not a demographer but based on the amount of gray hair in that room I'd say it seems very *not* representative of the population of the North End where the largest age group is people 25-29 with 20-24 being a close second (https://data.cityofboston.gov/dataset/North-End-neighborhood-2010-Census...). People old enough to have a full head of gray hair make up a comparatively small segment of the population. Makes me wonder if this group is mostly made up of people from a single building across the street.
beacuse...
So both web sites say "join us", but neither describes the project nor says why it is bad for the neighborhood. I'm curious how a 5 story building is too much for the neighborhood considering the other wharf buildings being built....
