Helicopters were everywhere today

Neil photographed one of the helicopters that ferried Congressional Medal of Honor recipients around town to various ceremonies today - in this case, parked outside the World Trade Center, where the recipients were holding their national convention.

We really need to expand transportation
Because flying (mostly) senior citizens around in helicopters isn't sustainable. Having them bicycle or endure the T isn't so practical either, given the age and physical disabilities of many.
yay, let's celebrate...
...killing machines and people who kill other people!
You're absolutely right...
Instead of all this hullabaloo for our nation's heroes, we really should have a special "Ultra-Liberal Passive Aggressive – and Should Probably Just Get it Over With And Move to Canada Already – Yuppie Day" to celebrate all those who've done nothing for their country.
outside of
Outside of paying a good chunk of the taxes that afford us these types of helicopters.
Great comparison.
Paying taxes is definitely equal in valor to putting your life on the line for your country.
no
I didn't compare the two, just saying that your average law abiding citizen doesn't "do nothing".
Well in that case, thanks for
Well in that case, thanks for paying your taxes! It's not a civil duty required by law or anything.,
Better idea.
Kill yourself.
I think you need to let them know
You're right, I think you should go up and let these Medal of Honor people know what you think of them.
Let us know how it turns out.
Um, medevac
Dear SoBo-Yuppie.
One of the aircraft pictured is a medevac.
The other is a utility (cargo) aircraft. Specifically, since it's a National Guard helicopter, this one probably plucked victims off of roofs during Katrina and the like.
Just sayin'
SoBo Yuppie if you owned it
you'd have that thing converted into a condo in about 30 seconds.
Another tribute tonight - halt of traffic on SE Expressway
I was driving northbound at about 5:30 PM on the distressway heading for the tunnel when I noticed that no traffic was flowing southbound except for a string of MSP motorcycles. Had to be a motorcade of some VIP, but who? As I crawled northbound the answer came with more police vehicles etc. and a charter bus with its sign lit announcing Congressional Medal VIPs. After they passed, traffic was allowed to continue.
