Berklee may be a large institution, churning through a lot of capital in this city...however it is a nonprofit, as per their boilerplate for their website: "Berklee College of Music is a nonprofit, coeducational institution of higher learning incorporated under the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The college is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students and to train veterans under the G.I. Bill of Rights."
And also for their page on giving: "What are the tax benefits of giving to Berklee College of Music? Every gift to Berklee is tax-deductible.Berklee is a non-profit, independent institution, listed as a 501(c)(3) organization by the IRS. Berklee's federal tax ID number is 04-2300472. After each gift you make, you will recieve a letter of receipt for your donation. Please keep this receipt for your records.Planned giving such as bequests and trusts offer significant tax benefits for the donor."

I call bulloney
this is a real estate grab
Berklee doesn't give one fig about BOCO's educational programming
it's funny to watch them try to find the words to hide it
What's the evidence?
What's the evidence?
the evidence
lies in programming decisions made at BOCO prior to the "merger" announcement
decisions that only made sense if you want to kill the programs
Example?...
Example?...
examples
they put a singer in charge of instrumental music
they got rid of all their marquis teachers, including the greatest concertmaster of all time
they demoted extraordinarily talented and committed educators so they could do these things with fewer in house objections
let's talk in 5-10 years and see if those BOCO buildings haven't been repurposed to meet Berklee's needs
