Round, yellowish bird on the Greenway

Spotted this little chirper on the Greenway near the InterContinental today. Anybody know what kind of bird it is?

I'd go with a vireo, maybe ykellow throated.

Female Goldfinch? Males are mostly yellow with black near the head. Lots further north.

It's a Common Yellowthroat - juvenile or female so it doesn't have a black mask. They're supposed to migrate but this one forgot. It was noted on the Christmas Bird Count on 12/20.

Omfg may be a bit over the top, but I for one appreciate your enthusiasm. My first thought would have been vireo due to the white eye ring, but before I was able to confirm or not, others had guessed common yellowthroat which of course is the correct identification. Either way, interesting to see these birds here in December. Still waiting to see the snowy owl at Castle Island this year as I know it's been spotted on several occasions.

If you are at all interested in birds that app is miraculous. Wish it had been around in my early birding days, since it cuts out a lot of flipping through the guidebook, finding what you think is your bird, and then discovering that bird only typically lives in a small mountain range in Texas. The app narrows down the likely suspects for your location and then you can decide from there whether you need to do more digging. I highly recommend it.

That hardy little Common Yellowthroat has been around the Greenway for a while. During the Christmas Count he was hanging out with an equally migration-confused Yellow-Breasted Chat!

I agree, I love that app. I think you can also get audio of the bird songs to help identify. I had to get a new phone and need to download the app again, which I will do right now!
